Kingdom Finances as Sons, part 2
“Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ‘for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; ‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? ‘When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? ‘Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:34-39
Last Sunday, we began to introduce you to this line of thought that there are principles of the Kingdom of God that we must understand in order to become administrators of the Kingdom. As our text demonstrates, there is a certain way we are to release what has been given to us and we must have an understanding of the Kingdom. We were made for the Kingdom and the Kingdom was made for us. As we understand the plan of God, the mysteries of God are revealed to us as we transition into our tight positions as sons of God. Not when we get to heaven, but in the here and now as we do His will on earth as it is in heaven.
Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
I Corinthians 4:1
Last Wednesday, we gave a definition of the word steward. It is defined as one who manages the financial affairs or property of another. Every born again believer is a steward of the Kingdom of God and manages the finances that come to you for the work of the Kingdom. God’s Word teaches us that if you are faithful over a little or a few things, He can and will trust you with much more.
“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Matthew 25:21
As we are coming into a new revelation of understanding wise stewardship concerning what we have, we sing a song that was written by our head musician, Minister Mike, “Use what you’ve got. Use it a lot. You’ve got something somebody needs.” This song describes the attitude of those that have the understanding of moving in Kingdom Finances as sons of God. In our text, the needs of others were met because of a heart of compassion that was honoring the Word of God “Love thy neighbor as thyself and what was done to the least of these was done as to the King himself.” We have to change our thinking from being about us to being about someone else. Understanding Kingdom Finances will break the spirit of poverty; break the tightfisted mentality about money and loose a spirit of generosity that will cause you to be a resource for the will and the purposes of God for the advancement of the Kingdom, for the house and for each other.
Let’s look at this from another angle.
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. And in this I give advice: It is to your advantage not only to be doing what you began and were desiring to do a year ago; but now you also must complete the doing of it; that as there was a readiness to desire it, so there also may be a completion out of what you have. For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. For I do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened; but by an equality, that now at this time your abundance may supply their lack, that their abundance also may supply your lack—that there may be equality. As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.” 2 Corinthians 8:9-15
The Apostle Paul is reminding us and making clear that we have traded our poverty for the riches or the benefits of the Kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. He became poor so we could become rich in our inheritance. Paul is speaking to the Corinthians about what they entered into a year ago but didn’t see it through up to that point. It sounds as though they began to walk in Apostolic Kingdom revelation and became sidetracked.
Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all. Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need. Acts 4:32-35
In the book of Acts, the Body received Kingdom revelation knowledge and destroyed lack in the church and started walking in Kingdom finances as sons. We have to release that “bless me so I can bless someone else” mentality and “Use what you’ve got. Use it a lot.” What are you doing with what you have been entrusted with? Do something with what you currently have right now!
Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation. But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:5-7
When we come to an understanding of using what we currently have, it is not to get more. That will happen soon enough. Sons understand the Kingdom principle of reciprocity, which can be found in Proverbs 13:21: Evil pursues sinners, But to the righteous, good shall be repaid.
Reciprocity means mutual action and reaction to; to give and return mutually’ to make a return for; to give in return’ to interchange, as to replicate favors. It’s the love God releases to cheerful givers based on relationship and obedience, not of necessity or what you need. We don’t give to get. That’s a mindset of witchcraft, manipulation and slavery from the old man. When a son has a right relationship with his Father whether it is spiritual or natural, it’s based on right relationship. There is a level of intimacy that only comes through honoring the one you love and serve.
And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
This is Apostolic Kingdom principle that sons walk in. It follows the right relationships that are founded on the truth of the Word of God, born out of love for and giving into that relationship to further the Kingdom through the vision and endeavors of the man and woman of God. Giving obediently and out of love will cause all of my needs to be met. The son will have faith for more than enough whereas a poverty mindset will always dwell in the land of barely enough.
